  • Insulin (a hormone secreted when eating carbs) signals cells to accumulate fat, and also not to release the fat they have.
  • Diabetes patients that inject insulin may develop excess fat at the injection site unless they keep changing it. This phenomenon is shown in the picture above, taken from The New England Journal of Medicine.
